First Rise

Welcome to The Local Loaf!

I'm Lee, the baker.

I handcraft artisan bread, one loaf at a time.

Bread brings meaning. peace, and joy to my life.  It delights and sustains the people around me.

I'd like to share my bread with you.  You can subscribe to weekly loaves of bread by sing the buttons on the right.

All proceeds benefit the Pocket Park initiative of  the Historic Meridian Park Neighborhood Association.  This project will give neighbors a park that we can walk to without leaving the neighborhood.  No more will we have to cross three-lane streets just to take the dogs and kids to the park!

You can pick up your bread on Sunday mornings at Broadway United Methodist Church (29th and Broadway).  Pickup begins at 10:30 am and lasts until noon.
Weekly subscriptions are just $4 per loaf; I also bake extra loaves to sell each week.

The bread I bake for subscribers is a round boule made with sea salt.  It has a crispy crust and a soft crumb.  The loaves are big enough to feed four people at dinner...or one person for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack!

I can also supply bread to local chefs and caterers.  My repertoire is vast.  Just ask; I'm sure I can bake whatever you need!

My bread is prepared in a certified commercial kitchen.  I often bring my children along to bake with me; they love the rhythm and steam of bread baking just as much as I do.

Speaking of the children, they are asking if they can deliver bread by bike.  Would you like to have bread delivered to your home regularly?  Leave me a comment or email me at lee.rhys@gmail.com.  I'd love to get that started!

Stay tuned for more of our story!
